Boeing Sells Spokane Plant

Boeing announced the sale of its Spokane, Washington plant. The plant has 400 employees and makes custom airplane parts. Boeing's plan is to have "kits" pre-assembled at the Spokane plant, delivered to the plane in a Puget Sound factory, eliminating more plant union workers. Union worker replacement was agreed to in the last union contract.

Boeing cuts 5000 more from commercial aircraft division

Boeing announced another devastating employment cut of 5000 workers in 2003. This is beyond the 30,000 cut already and 1500 in Bellevue, WA. announced recently. Boeing sees additional employment cuts possible in 2004-5. Most in the Puget Sound area. Any local recovery is many years off.

767 aircraft line hit again!

Boeing will cut production on the 767 in Everett. Wa. by half. The 747 and 757 could also be hit.  This is in addition to the 30,000 already laid off.  Most will be in Washington state. "Most of the thousands of laid off union recalls will never be recalled", says aircraft experts. Unemployment is running out for the first batch of lay offs and Temporary Extended Unemployment Benefits will unexpectantly expire for everyone else.

More production cuts

Boeing announced more aircraft production cuts in 2004. More jobs will be lost, most in the Puget Sound region. Some analysts predict a full aircraft production recovery won't be for 10 years. Tens of thousands of laid off Union Recalls have limited recall rights and most will likely run out of time. Opportunities for New Hire union jobs will open to replace the thousands loosing their union "recall" time. 1 2 3 4
